Hog hunter!

So...a while ago our neighbours had a blitz on the feral pigs roaming our properties and things calmed down a bit after that but I have continued, on occasions, to capture a few on my wildlife camera out in the bush. I have thought about building a pig trap but never got round to it until one of our neighbours said he wanted to build one too so this week we did.

Stakes, wire, netting and tools! The accoutrements of the trap builder!

The idea is, the trap is baited with something irresistible and the pigs force there way in past the bendy wire gate but then once inside can't get out again!

It's been up a couple of days but I reckon it will take awhile for the pigs to get used to it.

Watch this space!

Easter at The Piano Mill.

so...this last weekend we were at The Piano Mill for the annual, avant garde, musical extravaganza. It's in a lovely setting on the edge of the Great Dividing Range and we were lucky with the weather.

Firstly we were in Lagavulin to see Jon Rose and Eric Griswald perform the World Premiere of 'Untamed Road' on Tenor Violin and Piano.

What we didn't know was that we were joined in the room by a Red-bellied black snake for the performance, but luckily music calms the savage beast, as they say.

Next we were at Suntory to listen to 'Shadow Phase' by Peter Knight.

Our next venue was Limeburners for the World Premiere of 'Liarbird' by Frankie Dyson-Reilly, performed by Chris Stover, Vanessa Tomlinson, Jodie Rottle and Flora Wong.

Following this we wandered up to Beatrice Rock to listen to Tim Munro playing 'Binns Track 2016' by Hollis Taylor and Jon Rose. Tim accompanied and echoed the calls of Butcher Birds on his flute.

Then we were invited on the Imaginary Aviary Walk through the bush to hear bird species of the future performed by all of the musicians. We had been warned of the leeches and they certainly made the most of all the 'free food' traipsing through the trees.

Here are some of the Futuristic bird calls.

Finally we ended up at The Piano Mill, a wooden tower filled on two levels with old out of tune pianos for the final pieces, including 'The Hive' by Eric Griswald and 'The Night Parrot' by Eric Griswald and Vanessa Tomlinson.
