Pumping Pamela.
Pamela has arrived in Celia's bed.Yesterday I eavesdropped upon her doctor's visit.....well, those curtains that they pull around the beds are hardly soundproof! It would seem that Pamela has some skin infection caused by an infected mosquito bite!........There but for the grace of God go I!Pamela was relieved to discover it was not MRSA......and so was I!Pamela had visitors....a young lad and girl and a baby. They were crowding Dulcie and I out. The lad was large and had a bit of builder's bum going on which was distracting. They let Dulcie hold the baby."He's heavy!" She said.'Like his father,' I thought.Eventually they left and all was quiet.Dulcie and I concentrated upon our game of Euchre.Pamela broke wind loudly. "Oh!" She said.Dulcie frowned but she still won.Tonight we were back at the cards.A young woman came in with a big bunch of flowers for Pamela. Pamela was touched but she didn't want them out of the paper because she was going home tomorrow. The girl sat down by Pamela's bed.Mary wandered over in her pyjamas to the sink just beside the girl. (You know Mary, she was opposite Dulcie in the first room she was in, in rehab. She is now in Maureen's old bed).Mary was brushing her tongue......I only say that because she does not appear to have any teeth...not that I have looked closely into her mouth.Mary was brushing her tongue for quite a long time. The girl was not chatting to Pamela....she was just looking at her mobile phone like an uninterested teenager.....but she is older.Mary finished and spat loudly into the sink just behind the girl who looked up from her phone quite startled.Pamela got out of bed to go and find a vase for her flowers. She took a step towards the door and broke wind and then another step and did it again! The girl dissolved into fits of giggles. It's hard concentrating on your Euchre hand in Ward 4b.
