A 'Benny Hill' Moment.
All was peaceful in the Man-Cave when I awoke. It had rained in the night. I could hear the sound of slow dripping from the end of Daryl's (neighbour) broken drainpipe into the bucket which he has placed underneath that is now a hatching pool for my mosquito children!I looked at my phone and it was 7.30 am so turned over thinking I had at least another 45 minutes before I needed to get up. I dozed and the looked at the time again. It was 7.50 am. I snuggled down again.I would get up at 8.15 just in time to answer the phone when Transition care rang about today's shower for Dulcie....at least 25 minutes left.I heard a phone ringing....far away.......was I dreaming?......No! It was the phone upstairs......it was 8.25 am!!!!!!"THE PHONE!" I cried.I leapt out of bed. So did Will.....(cue Benny Hill music). We both ran about like headless chickens looking for clothes that would be quick to put on....I did not have my glasses on and everything was blurred....Will was hopping about trying to get his leg into something and I was wrestling with a t-shirt and the phone kept on ringing......Finally we were both decent but couldn't find the keys.....we were running about all over searching for the keys...looking under papers, stuffing out hand in pockets....and the phone kept on ringing....."WHERE ARE THE DAMN KEYS?"The ringing suddenly stopped...."Hello?" We heard Dulcie answer.....she had got out of bed to answer it.We still couldn't find the keys.....I ran up the back stairs to see if the back door was open, wondering if Will had not locked it and left the keys upstairs but it was locked so ran back down.We heard the walker trundling back along the hall upstairs....at least she had used the walker and not gone to the phone without it.Will found finally found the keys in the pocket of his black jacket hanging on the end of the bed.We need to get a cordless phone so that we can have one downstairs.......it would help with my blood pressure!
