The Curious Incident of the Yob in the Night-time.

There was a party up the road last night....we could hear the laughter, cheering and voices into the night.Just as we were preparing to go to bed we heard the shouting and yelling of someone obviously having an argument. We couldn't quite hear the gist of it but it was so nasty that I closed our blinds and made sure our front and back doors were locked.I suspected it would not be long before the police arrived and sure enough they did.It was all quite quiet for awhile and I went for a shower but as I was coming out there was very loud shouting close by.."PUT IT DOWN AND GET ON THE FLOOR!....... PUT IT DOWN AND GET ON THE FLOOR NOW!.......... ON THE FLOOR NOW!"Yikes! It all sounded very dramatic to us in the Man Cave and it sounded like it was right outside. We were worried about Dulcie and so we crept upstairs to see that she was ok.She seemed to be asleep.Outside, at the front of the house next door, there was a large guy, wearing just shorts sat on the floor with his hands handcuffed behind his back. He was verbally abusing, very loudly, the three police officers who were shining their torches on him and standing around him. He had obviously had too much to drink. He looked about 30.I cracked open the window so we could hear better.Another car arrived with two women one of whom turned out to be the 'yobs' mother. Then another car arrived with two more policemen. It was hard to follow what was going on as we could only hear the yob's loud words most of which I would not print here. The police seemed very calm and quiet. The yob was saying he had been assaulted by his cousin and wanted to know why he had been arrested....we couldn't hear why. His mother tried to calm him down and the other woman who was with her kept on saying."Dean, stop it! Dean, stop it!"It went on for ages with him just yelling and swearing and being aggressive and the police just quietly talking to him. He didn't want to go with the police and wanted to go home with his mother but of course that was not an option. We were amused to see a possum creeping along a telephone wire above all the commotion. We crept back downstairs.Eventually it sounded like his mother had had enough and left the police to it and a few moments later they bundled him in the van. It probably took all of them to lift him....he was that big."Should have done that an hour ago." I heard one of the policemen say. I think they took him off to the P.A (Princess Alexandra Hospital)."They should have just hit him with a tranquilliser dart and bundled him off ages ago," I said."What a good job you are not a policeman," said Will.Dulcie heard it all."I wasn't worried, " she said this morning, " I knew you would have locked me in."
