A 'Ruth' Awakening!

So........after an early start yesterday I was not expecting another one this morning but the phone rang at 7.20 am.I answered."Hello?""Hi, Dulcie,""Er, it's Nick, Dulcie's carer.""Hi, it's Ruth from Blue Care, it says on the file to ring half an hour before arriving for the shower. I'll be there at 8.15.""Oh, that's very early," I said, "She won't be awake yet. She normally has a shower at 11.00 on a Monday."(Silence)...........then,"Well, I was told to ring half an hour before I came.""I'll have to get her up then," I said."I'll be there at 8.15."Janina usually comes on Mondays but last week she said she was taking long service leave."How long for?" I asked."Three months," she said, "but I didn't tell you that," she added mysteriously.I had to wake Dulcie from a deep sleep just before Ruth arrived. I had put the heater on in the bathroom to warm it up.While Ruth was helping Dulcie with her shower, something started vibrating loudly on the table. I thought it was my phone but as I picked it up to check it a loud female voice shouted out,"Hey, you all want to go down to Devil Gate Drive? Well, come on"!It was Ruth's ring tone!Her phone then chirped randomly like a cricket to inform her she had an answer phone message but weirdly stopped before she came out of the bathroom."Well, I might see you again," she said.'Not this early,' I was thinking."I've never been over this side before, it's hard when you don't know an area to find toilets, like at McDonalds.""Use ours," I said. I do keep it scrupulously clean. "Others use ours and they've said that they would never use the loos in some houses they go to."Ruth laughed and went to leave."Oh, Suzi Quatro rang. She left a message with your cricket" I called after her.I rang Blue Care and asked Robyn to make sure that it said on Dulcie's file, 'no showers before 10.00 am.'
