All clear! (updated)

So... my day began at 5.30 am....after a mostly sleepless night. I set off at 6.00 am and drove the three hours to Brisbane arriving just before 9.00 am. I went straight to Radiology and got my chest x-ray done. They were very quick and I was out again in less than 10 minutes. I got something to eat and a hot chocolate at the cafe in the foyer and then went back up to level three to the Outpatients clinic. It wasn't Dr Cole who called me but another chap in blue scrubs called Lachlan. He said the x-ray looked good and asked if I had been practising with my triflow."I have" I said, having really, barely touched it, perhaps once a day since I could keep all three balls up easily on the day after the operation."I can tell," he said, "your lungs look good."It was good to know my lungs looked like they could keep balls up!"And the pathology result? That didn't come before you left did it?""No" I said, not mentioning that I had rung at least twice since to find out but to no avail."Well, it's good. There was nothing sinister. It probably started from a small infection and just grew, a bit like a sebaceous cyst on the skin so there is no need for any further operations, chemo, radiology and it is very unlikely that it will occur again."I mentioned the very sensitive area on the left hand side of my chest, an area not that near to where the incision was and he said that this was nerve damage that could take some time to recover. He said he would prescribe some medication to help numb it a bit in the meantime. He said the wound was healing nicely and then he went to get Dr Cole as he said he was a very 'hands on doctor' and liked to keep a close eye on all his patients and he would like to see me before I left.I waited about 10 minutes for Dr Cole to come. He was pleased too and reiterated what Lachlan had said that there was no cancer found and that it all looked well and that I could be discharged as there was no need to see me again....unless the sensitive area on my chest was still sore after three months then I was to get in touch again.I thanked him for everything and shook his hand and he left.Lachlan gave me the prescription for the 'nerve numb-er' and I was free to go.So....that is the end of that saga!......I hope!
