'Perseids'....or 'Of Shooting stars and shooting possums'.
So...last night was the best time to view the Perseid meteor shower apparently as the Earth passes through the debris left behind by the comet Swift-Tuttle. We set the alarm for 1.00 am but I had to attend to a call of Nature at 11.00 pm and saw a fantastic bright light streak across the sky. We still got up at 1.00am and Will startled something amongst his vegetables as he went out the back door. It turned out to be...
Looking guilty.
"If she eats my poppy I'll kill her!" He said.We stood in the cold by the 'chook' shed with Yudhishthira crowing, annoyingly, as he does throughout the night. We stood there for about 20 minutes and saw nothing before Will had had enough and went back to bed. I stayed out a bit longer trying to catch a shooting star with my new camera. I saw about 6 more but they were nothing like the one I had seen at 11.00. They were just ordinary 'bath night' shooting stars and the camera didn't pick them up.
