Bat in the bedroom.
So...we have been sleeping in Blue Moon House since the Blue Moon. Most nights we have wandered up from Frogknot to find a Possum eating an unripe peach in the tree outside Blue Moon House. I have been sleeping much better in there since our first few sleeps in there. After moving the 'chooks' up to 'Fort Cocks' they are not so noisy in the morning. There are other night noises though which sometimes interrupt my sleep like the evil rasping sound of the possums. As I write now in the wee small hours there is a distant monotonous yapping thing but it is not a dog. I have no idea what it is, bird, frog or mammal?I am awake because tonight there was a loud flapping sound. At first I thought it was that Giant Wood Moth back again but it turned out to be a small bat. There are a few unfinished gaps between the walls and ceiling and of course the still uncovered ventilation gaps through which it must have entered and then couldn't find its way out. Will was oblivious until it landed on the mosquito net and I cried out in alarm as it crawled with open wings up the netting."It will find its way out" he said and promptly turned over and went back to snoring. It didn't find its way out for ages actually. It kept trying and resting and just when I thought it had finally gone would begin flapping again. Eventually it did find a way out between the ceiling and the wall and flew off into the night. I will now try to get back to sleep and try to ignore Will's heavy breathing, the whine of frustrated mosquitos and the distant monotonous yapping thing.Sigh.
