Possums galore!

So...tonight there was a loud thump and a clatter on the roof of Blue Moon House. I was already awake but the noise jolted Will awake from his sleep in alarm."What was that?!"We guessed it was two possums chasing each other as after a brief moment of stillness there was further scurryings across the tin.Will went back to sleep and I tried to but after awhile I felt a presence and switching on the torch found Galore in the corner of the bedroom. I watched as he/ she wandered along the lintel of one of the downstairs windows and then back again and along past the bottom of the bed and out across the lintel of the opposite window. I felt he/ she was stuck and couldn't find away out. I woke Will as the possum wandered back past the bottom of the bed." It will jump down" he said and he clapped his hands to scare it but it just ran along the lintel into a corner as far away from us as it could get.We turned off the torch and tried to get back to sleep but I heard further footsteps and switched the torch back on but found the possum gone.Will got up to see if it was downstairs where there was no way out but couldn't see it.Off with the light and back in bed, we tried to sleep again....but there was a rustling of the lining paper and a scratching sound and switching the torch on I saw a possum climbing down one of the poles into the room.Will looked up as it reached the floor of the bedroom and it looked into the light. We could see that it was Caliban, the one eyed possum who we see from time to time. Caliban was not put off by our presence and crept towards, us almost coming right up to the bed, across the floor before turning and heading along past the bottom of it and peering out into the night on the other side of the house. He couldn't find a way down that side so wandered back past the bed and peered out the other side before slowly lowering himself over the edge of the lintel and landing with a thud outside.We shall have to get these walls sealed properly and cover the ventilation gaps with mesh so I can get my beauty sleep without interruption.
