The Silence of the Kookaburras.

So...following the Second Great Vermin War, where we eventually resorted to 'Chemical Warfare', I have been very worried about the effects on the local wildlife. While the possums and sugar gliders seem to be thriving, I have noticed that the Kookaburras have been unusually quiet. I haven't heard their laughing call morning or evening for ages. I though I'd killed them all because they ate our poisoned mice but happily they are still around but they are not their usual noisy selves.Whilst having dinner at 'Schloss Adler' we got talking about this and we were told (by a veritable 'know-it-all)' that it was quite normal during the winter season and that when they do call they are shouting out 'This is my territory' during the breeding season. It was even news to Will...but such a relief for me.
