'Up Over' - End of Days.

Sunday 26th August:Today we were supposed to be walking in the Lake District but the weather forecast was dreadful and so we postponed the walk until later in the week.Monday 27th August until Wednesday 29th August: Glasgow.Monday - Today we were on the train by 9.10 am to Glasgow Central Station. We met some friends, Jim and Lizanne, from my time teaching in Germany and went for a coffee with them. We last saw them when they visited us at Frogknot in April. It was great to catch up with them and a little later their daughter Gillian, who I last saw when she was 7 and she is now in her early thirties. After seeing them Will and I wandered the city until we were able to get into our accommodation for the night, Glasgow Lofts. We had stayed here before years ago so it was another trip down memory lane but it was all looking a bit dated and tired now.At 5.00 we went to meet some of the mum's of the children Will taught at Glasgow Steiner school. It was a lovely catch up but I did manage to accidentally spill a glass of coke all over one of them. At 7.00 we met more friends at Ichiban Japanese restaurant for dinner and then a wander through the city by night before retiring to our apartment.Tuesday 28th August.Today was the tenth anniversary of Will and I meeting for the first time. We wandered through the city and along the Clyde. I managed to go over on my ankle but managed to hobble on. We dropped our bags off at the Ibis Hotel where we were staying the second night and then continued along by the Clyde. We crossed over near the newly built Hydro entertainment centre and walked to the old Steiner School. It burnt down shortly after Will left and is a sorry sight now. After that we went to the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum. There was an organ recital in the main hall. We walked to the West End and had some lunch before catching the underground train back to our hotel. At 6.30pm we went to the Alea Casino Bar where ten years earlier I met Will for the first time. We had a drink sat at the same table but the bar is now a sports bar and a rugby match was playing on screens all around us. At 7.00pm we went upstairs to The Waterfront Restaurant and were shown to the same table that we sat at on our first date. We had a lovely meal and were told at the end that our drinks were on the house as it was our anniversary. We went for a wander along by the river and walked down to the Red Bridge. Will took his whistle and played it for awhile in the middle of the bridge before we returned to the hotel.Wednesday 29th August. - One year since we lost Dad.We were up early. I discovered I had an upset stomach though Will was fine. I don't know what caused it. We got to the station for 8.40am and caught the train to Carlisle. I was sick on the train so it was a pretty awful journey. At Carlisle we went, I limped, to the bus station and caught a bus to my Mum's. Andy arrived from Bristol shortly after we did it was great to see him again but I went to bed for awhile. I got up about 12 and Zoe had arrived, ten James and finally Jayne. At 12.30 we all headed off to Eden Golf Course for afternoon tea. What a feast of sandwiches, savouries and cakes there was but I only managed to nibble on one sandwich and a small cake as I was still feeling ill. Afterwards we drove to the cemetery at Wetheral to visit Dad before heading back to Mum's. Eventually everybody drifted off back to their own homes and Will, Mum and I drove to Keswick. We met Anne there and we went and saw 'Sense and Sensibility' at the Theatre by the Lake. It was another good production and a lovely way to spend the evening.
We arrived at Brisbane at 17.35. There was a huge queue for the e-passport gates, then my bag took so long to come off the plane that I began to think it had been lost. Ros met us and we stayed the night at her house.Today we drove back to Frogknot after having to jump start Roxy. There was a tree down across the drive. The lights wouldn't work but Will managed to sort it. All the chooks are fine.
