Show Day.

So...today was the start of the annual Stanthorpe Show and we were intending to go as we have for the last few years to see the fruit and vegetable displays, the 'chooks' and show animals. It is a local holiday here, even the local schools close for Show Day to allow everyone to attend if they wish. In the end we gave it a miss. All those 'fast food' aromas would probably have been torture for someone living (hopefully) on 800 calories a day so instead we got on with jobs at home and even made improvements to Blue Moon by adding fly screen and surrounds to the downstairs Louvre windows.
It always rains on Show Day ...but we are in the middle of a terrible drought in The Granite Belt at the moment so none was expected. At the moment North Queensland is flooded with monsoonal rains and Townsville has been declared a disaster area. January has been the hottest in Australia since records began. We did have 30 mls of rain early last week but with the following days all above 30 degrees all the good the rain did soon dried up.Today was cloudy and the sky looked a little threatening but Will said perhaps therethere be no rain on Show Day today.Would you believe it? It's only started raining tonight, lightly, but rain nevertheless out of the blue. They should declare it Show Day everyday for the next month if that's what will make it rain.
