Bringing back the rain!
So...I returned to Frogknot yesterday. We drove up from Brisbane in two cars as Will has got a 'new' car while I have been away as Sky Blue is becoming less reliable. He drove Kwiz, the new car and I was in Rhonda. As we drove home and headed up the range it was upsetting to see the aftermath of the bushfire at Cunningham's Gap and for the first time I heard no bell birds calling on the way up. I got more and more depressed as we drove through the drought ravaged Downs. By the time we arrived at Frogknot dark clouds were gathering reflecting my mood. The cicadas were screaming and shortly afterwards it began to rain. It rained for much of the afternoon and into the evening and in the end we had over 30 mls of steady rain. The dam which had been dry on my arrival returned, a few inches deep, but for how long time only will tell. The tank down by the shed is nearly full as are the two behind the house which will keep us going for a few more months but we need some regular rain to get the dam back to its usual level, though it remains to be seen if its ecosystem will ever recover from this prolonged dry period.Today the rain has long gone and we have had strong winds which are carrying dust from the west.
