'Slowly, slowly catchy (another) beastie!'

So...since we caught the fox I have been a bit lax in putting out the camera and even making sure the trap was baited though it did have a little cheese and cat food in it for a few nights. Slowly the cheese disappeared and whatever was eating it was getting away without springing the trap. For the last few nights all that was left was a few morsels of fish left over from the cat food. I kept meaning to re-bait it and fit new batteries into the camera but never got round to it after long days at the 'book cave'.So it was surprising to find  a captive in the trap this morning...a huge black cat. It is definitely feral the way it reacted at my approach and as I carried it down to the house. It was a lot heavier than the fox and wilder!

We cannot release this beast back into the wild. The local council has drop off pens, at the local pound, that are open 24 hours where you can leave cats and dogs. We took our beast there and carefully putting one end of the trap into one of the cat pens transferred it into the council's custody.Thorndale Ridge has one less killer roaming the bushland from today...though Will did inform me on our way to the pound that he did see another fox this morning down by the gate!Dang nabbit!!!!
