Chapter 21.

Verse 1;

And it came to pass, at the New Year, that the tribes of the World didst hope, in the coming year, for an end to the pestilence and a return unto the freedoms of years past but it was not to be. Nick dwelt in the hope that he could return unto Eden to visit with family and friends but again it was not to be. The pestilence didst remain in the World and smote the people down. But a cure was passed out amongst the people by way of two pricks. And the people flock-ed unto the healers seeking the pricks but there were some that shunned the pricks and didst wail and gnash their teeth and there was a great unease in the World.

Verse 2;

But Nick didst continue to toil in the House of the Word and Will, no longer tending the baby cheeses didst look for other toil in the Underworld. And in the third month Will didst receive a calling from on high. They spake saying “And lo, come tend the baby cheeses once more for we have banish-ed the previous evil leader and knowing nothing of the baby cheeses, need you to show us the whey.”

And Will spoke saying “But what of the unpalatable urns? I do not rejoice in the daily casting aside of unpalatable urns. Canst we not seek out a return of the milk of the beasts of the field?”

And they replied saying “Yea, we shall seek out the milk of the beasts of the field but must continue with the unpalatable urns until that time cometh.” So Will didst return once more to tend the baby cheeses. And it was good.

Verse 3;

And though unable to depart the Underworld Nick was able to speak and see his family through a tablet, and it was a miracle. And the heavens didst continue to open and rain upon the Underworld and it was good. And in the fourth month Will didst join with a group of crafts makers and didst make music to accompany their craftwork in celebration of a great river and it please-ed Will and the craft makers.

Verse 4;

And in the middle of the year the hour came for Nick and Will to offer themselves up unto the healers to receive their pricks but Will was sore afraid and spake unto the Pricker saying “I am sore afraid of pricks.” And the Pricker spake saying “Oh well, behold, look upon my tablet and read my Book of Face, whilst I prick you.” And it was very, very odd.

And about that time it came to pass that Nick didst receive news from Joshua, the eldest son of Nick, that a child was to be born at the end of the year and there was great rejoicing in the Temple of the Moon. And Lewis, the second son of Nick, didst journey unto the Metropolis, yea even unto London, to toil once more for those for whom he toiled in Edinburgh in years past. And Nathan, the youngest son of Nick, didst move into the stable of Nick in Eden and didst toil by feeding thousands with loaves and fishes.

Verse 5;

And in the ninth month Nick was smote once more by the second coming of Pancreatitis and he was sore afraid for he remembered the drips, catheters\and cardboard bottles, in the shape of a gourd, of a time long past.  Nick dwelt in the House of the Gourd for five days and four nights before the healers spake saying “Thou must have thy gallbladder cast out.” And Nick replied ‘Yea, I shall sacrifice my gallbladder unto the House of the Gourd for I do not wish to dwell here once more.”

And he returneth unto the Temple of the Moon to await the coming extrication of his troublesome organ.

Verse 6;

And on the tenth day of the twelfth month, Joshua and his wife, Helena, begat Rowan Thomas, the grandson of Nick, and he was very, very good.

And Nick didst begin to make plans to visit Eden to gather with family and friends in the coming year but the pestilence was still upon the World and it seemeth even more evil and it was not good. And a decree went out saying “Thou must have a third prick.” And Will spoke saying, ‘Oh, Bugger!”

And in the coming days, Phoebe, the daughter of Will, shalt dwell in the House of the Moon for Christmas and unto the coming of the New Year.

And so it is written and so it has and will come to pass.

Here endeth the lesson.
