Chapter 22.

Verse 1;

And it came to pass, that in the beginning of the year, a decree went out saying ‘if though has hadst thy three pricks thou may once again mount thy donkeys and journey unto distant lands’ and Nick didst rejoice at the good news for he greatly desired to visit with his family in Eden once more, but he still wait-eth to hear from the physicians to be called unto the House of the Gourd for the casting out of his gallbladder and so had to bide his time. For forty days and forty nights he didst pace back and forth and nibbleth upon his nails until in the second month he was finally called unto the House of the Gourd and his gallbladder was cast out and it was good.

Verse 2;

And in the third month Nick rejoice-ed and was finally able to journey unto Eden to visit with his family and friends after two score months and eight banish-ed in the Underworld. Will didst not journey with Nick as he was called upon to tend the baby cheeses. Nick didst remain in Eden for three score days and one and didst visit with his mother,children and grandchild and it was good. And in the fifth month Nick didst return unto the Underworld and it was a miracle that he remain-ed free of the pestilence at that time.

Verse 3;

In years past, Will hadst been one of a number of celebrated musicians and their name was ‘One Straw’ and there was to be a resurrection, yea not unlike that of ‘Abba’, (thanks be to God), only greater, where they would play and sing unto the gathered host of folk by the rivers of Neurum Creek. And Will and the musicians didst practice for many months and in the Ninth month the folk didst gather by the rivers of Neurum Creek where they sat down and yea, they wept when they remembered ‘One Straw’. And lo, it came to pass that ‘One Straw’ didst rise again and the people didst rejoice at their second coming and it was good.

Verse 4;

And also in the Ninth month, it came to pass that the House of the Word where Nick didst toil, didst close its doors unto the people and they didst wail and gnash their teeth. But the Chief Scribe spake saying ‘Fear not! The House of the Word is not gone forever, behold in the coming year, it shall return bigger and greater than before.’

But the people spake saying ‘Yea, but where are the scriptures for us to lay eyes upon whilst the House of the Word is close-ed?’ And the Chief scribe spake saying ‘There is no room in the House of the Overseers for thou to look upon the scriptures but again, Fear Not, for thou canst come unto us in our small stable in the House of the Overseers and request a scripture and we shall seek it out and give it unto thee, or lo even deliver it unto thee by the Donkey of the Word.’ And the people didst frown, turn away and leave to await the second coming of the House of the Word.

But Nick Didst continue to work for the Word in the House of the Overseers and yea, didst even take the Donkey of the Word out unto the people but the Donkey could not carry the scriptures for they were too heavy and so the Donkey was a burden without a burden.

Verse 5;

And in the twelfth month they didst journey south, yea, even unto the Blue Mountains for a Festival of Art, for Will and two other Artisans hadst been toiling throughout the year upon a work of the ‘Water’. Three Sanctuary trees were depicted upon the wall, one from each of the Artisan’s dwelling place, with silver idols, depicting the moths and bees thereabouts, placed upon them. Will had called upon the birds and insects of each Sanctuary tree to sing and carouse and by a miracle he was able to reproduce their song by the paintings and it was very good.

Verse 6;

And also in the twelfth month Phoebe, the daughter of Will, didst become fifteen and Rowan, the grandson of Nick, didst become one. And in the ending of the year Will and Nick will journey away from the House of the Moon unto the sea to spend the holidays on the sands with loaves and fishes.

And so it is written and so it has and will come to pass.

Here endeth the lesson.
