Amazing!

So...yesterday I came across something I've never seen here before...

...a long necked turtle obviously scraping a hole in the dam wall to lay her eggs! It seems they can take between 3 and 8 months to hatch though so doubt we catch that!

Update!

So...we have been away for the weekend and got back today to find the eggs had been dug up and destroyed by some unknown creature! I am so upset because I was going to fence the site off to avoid such an outcome but didn't find time before we left. I doubt I'll ever come across this event again. It's so very sad.
