Updates.
Dulcie:Dulcie is fine. She is really good at the moment and has been going out into the communal area for lunch for the last 2 days. Last night she had a few breathing difficulties and so did not go out for lunch today but stayed by her bed. The doctors are concerned about her lungs and are carrying out further tests. Some of these tests are to see if she is eligible for and whether she will require oxygen at home. They are saying that they do not expect her to be out for at least another fortnight.....and more worryingly....if ever! We, the family, feel that she is much better and that her lungs were probably this bad before the fall but that her body was coping. She is pretty much as she was...just thinner, tired and lost a little of her spark.....though she is still able to beat us at cards! She is walking well with the aid of a walker and is showering, with help every morning. Of course we are all adamant that she will not stay in hospital or be sent to a nursing home. We were due to have a family conference tonight at Celtis St to discuss plans but we have little to go on from the doctors and Danny cannot come tonight....the rest of us will still go ahead and talk.....and eat roast chicken.Celia:Celia has had no more visitors that we know of since her son the other day. I asked if she needed anything the other day and she needed conditioner and toothpaste which I got for her. She has been going to speech therapy but it is very difficult to understand her still. We have not heard her crying as much in recent days. I have been using Dulcie's walker as a seat during visits and slip and slide around the ward on it....today I wheeled myself in on it grinning inanely....clear as a bell Celia said..."Oh, bloody hell!"Maureen:Dulcie said Maureen has had new hearing aids. She does seem to be hearing better. Today, as they were putting her into bed behind the curtains we heard her say in her loud voice..."Isn't it funny....you wait for ages for a nurse to come along and suddenly you have...one....two.....three and four!"Insook:Insook is not eating very much.....though she does eat all the mashed potato they give her. She is Korean and probably just prefers Korean food. She walks slower than Dulcie and is permanently attached to a drip. Today two women came in holding a plastic bag between them....ie, a handle each. Insook was asleep. They started praying by her bed and she woke up. She seemed pleased to see them. Will:Will is now on holiday for Easter....though he has been called in tomorrow to help with the other Kindy group as their assistant is off this week.....it means more money for Pepsi Max and chocolate.Nick:I am still trying to remember to take my blood pressure tablet every morning. I have to go back to the doctor tomorrow to hear the results of theEcho- cardiogram. I finally received a letter from Education Queensland to say that I am now, officially, allowed to work in schools here.....hmmmm,....they break up for Easter tomorrow....so, I have another two weeks off at least!......Timing! Marvellous!Other news! Our neighbour here....Daryl....has allowed us access to his computer 'network'....he has a vast collection of films and TV series which we have discovered we can stream straight to our 'Telly'....we are so glad we shipped it out!
